Yesterday I made a new lip balm that will be making it to the Web Store soon!
Lime.... Not sure what to name it yet.....
Also, I made some lotions that will also be up for sale. That will be a umcoming blog post.... Soon!
But for today, this is how I make lip balm...
So, basically, lip balms are made of at least 3 oils. I like using really moistourizing oils. I use coconut oil as my base. It also contains a solid, the only one I have ever heard of being used is beeswax. I would be interested if any one knows of anything that works just as well as beeswax.
These are the ingredients I used for the lime lip balm:
I used chlorophyll to make it a little bit green. (I use all natural colorants... I will go over that later also.)
Anyway, I melt the oils in a double boiler, in this case coconut oil, sweet almond and vitamin E oil, just until they are melted (becuase the coconut is solid).
Then I add the beeswax. After the beeswax is melted, I add the color. Just a little bit, because I don't want an ugly green color.
Next I add the essential oil. Lastly I pour the mix into the tubes and containers. That is why I like to use the liqud measuring cup.. Makes it so much easier to pour. They do make trays, But I don't make nearly enough that I would need one. For now, this works!
I will add labels later. That is the fun part!
So you see making lip balms is really easy. Takes a little bit of time, but easy.
And for the so much more part..
It is really exciting news!!!
I spend the days yesterday with two of ny best friends, making LOTION! We ended up doing so much lotion. FIVE different kinds! Well... we used two different recipes and added different essential oils. We spent so much time trying to perfect the smells that we all ended up getting headaches! But, we got the smells right and i wrote them down. I will get on putting them online as soon as I get a chance.
Here is how one looks:
That is all for now...
What about you, have you ever made lip balm? Did you enjoy making it?
