I like the summer, I get to wear shorts and flip-flops!
I look on Pinterest all too much. A certain pin kept catching my eye... I finally pinned it to my board. After a few weeks I saw it a few times more. So, I finally decided to make it and try it out.
This is how it looks:
I can't believe how well it worked!
For the one I made, I cut the recipe in half because I didn't want to "waste" good ingredients on something that wouldn't work.
But... It did work! Although, there were a few things that I didn't like.
-Some of the sugar crystals got stuck on the blades of my razor. It left a few scrapes on my legs. They weren't noticable, just hurt at first. So make sure you rinse your blade after each run.
-It seemed like a lot of oil going down the drain. It might be a good idea to not use this in the shower. Or, get a gallon of drain cleaner!
-It is a bit hard to get it out of the jar. I think this is just me, but there might be an easier way to do this....
On the plus side:
-You don't have to use lotion after using this! (Yay for me! )
-The lemon smells really good.
-Coconut Oil has some SPF!
-The sugar exfoliates the skin, removing all the dead skin.
-It really does leave your skin feeling smooth!
For the recipe, which is more than enough for one shave, (it will probably last 4-5) here is the recipe I used. It isn't exactly half but it works good.
~1/2 cup sugar
~1/4 cup coconut oil
~Juice of half a lemon
Mix well. Store in container.
Another note.... I have had this in my shower for a couple weeks already and it hasn't gone bad. If you don't want to take a chance, keep it in the fridge, but be sure to get it out at least a couple hours before you use it. So, the oil will soften.
If you try this, let me know how you like it!
